Metric drawings usually assume coarse pitch unless they say fine (e.g. M8×1 or “fine thread”). Ordering the wrong pitch is one of the most common fastener RFQ mistakes—parts look right by diameter but will not assemble.

Always match the drawing. If only “M8” appears with no pitch, most catalogs default to coarse.
